Receive all telephone calls, 911 Emergency calls, and radio messages directed to the dispatch center, and keep documentation on all radio and telephone calls, accurately recording date, time, and all other pertinent information. Accept and review all information from the various sources and media and to disseminate it through the proper Chain of Command for the benefit and safety of all emergency personnel, and the citizens of the City, and all those who are passing through the City. Read and comprehend orders, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures for purposes of ensuring appropriate performance of dispatching and recordkeeping duties. Perform dispatch functions while working rotating shifts and unanticipated overtime. Ability to maintain a calm demeanor and obtain necessary information from excited or abusive citizens. Accept supervision and function as a part of the quasi-military police organization, and accept all duties assigned in a smooth, effective, and efficient manner. Prepare and forward all required reports and correspondence, to the appropriate person or authority in a timely manner. Exercise good judgment and common sense in the discharge of his/her duties. Monitor alarms to determine if emergency response is required and to dispatch emergency personnel or make notifications as needed.į. Activate emergency sirens to warn community of impending danger.Į.
